Antonello is an excellent tour guide. He is knowledgeable and organized. Perhaps even more important is that he is warm and personable. He makes you feel very welcome and does his best to care for your personal needs. I highly recommend a trip with Antonello!

Suggested Packing List
The following is a list of items that you may want to consider bringing on your vacation in Southern Italy. In spring and fall, from April through June and September through November, the weather is generally warm during the day but mornings & evenings can be cool, particularly in the early and late parts of the season. And there is a higher chance of showers at this time of year. In the summer months of July and August it can be extremely hot and the sun is very strong. Italians tend to dress up a little more than other cultures. You may want to bring a few items to dress “smart casual” for dinners and strolling in towns.

Please note that it can be difficult to get laundry done at smaller hotels in Southern Italy while you are on trip. We suggest bringing some lightweight clothing that you can rinse/wash and dry quickly overnight in the hotel if needed.

We request that you limit your luggage to 2 small-medium suitcases with a weight of no more than 20kg per item.

In addition to the regular clothing you pack we suggest the following items for our active trips:

Items specific to cycling trips

  • 2-3 pairs of cycling shorts
  • 3-4 lightweight cycling jerseys
  • 1 lightweight long-sleeved cycling shirt
  • 1 mid-weight long-sleeved shirt or light fleece
  • cycling socks
  • 1 pair of cycling tights or legs for cool mornings or rainy days
  • 2 pairs of cycling gloves
  • 1 pair of cycling or stiff-soled shoes
  • rain-resistant or waterproof cycling jacket
  • wrap-around skirt or shorts that can be pulled on over cycling shorts for walking around towns
  • clipless pedals (optional)
  • saddle (optional)
  • helmet (optional)

Items specific to walking trips

  • 3-4 lightweight short-sleeved shirts
  • 2 pairs of lightweight shorts
  • 1 pair of lightweight pants (pants with zip-off bottoms are great!)
  • 2 lightweight long-sleeved shirts
  • 1 mid-weight long-sleeved shirt or light fleece
  • 1 rain-resistant or waterproof jacket
  • hiking socks
  • 1 pair of hiking shoes or boots *

* We do not suggest bringing a new pair of shoes or boots for your walking trip. Be certain to wear the shoes in well before starting your trip in order to reduce the likelihood of blisters.

Other items

  • Passport and travel documents pouch
  • Camera *^
  • Sunglasses
  • Bathing suit & sandals
  • Travel alarm clock
  • Reading material/books
  • A few of your favorite energy bars (Clif, Luna, Power, etc.)
  • Prescription medications
  • Some Euro cash in case you can’t get to a bank right away
  • Italian phrase book
  • Sunscreen

* We suggest checking to ensure that your battery charger is 110/220 adaptable and that you bring a plug adapter with you, as they can be difficult to find in Italy.

^ Please note: Southern Visions cannot take responsibility for any lost or stolen items. We do not suggest bringing laptop computers with you on your trip.
