There are no lights as you leave the harbour, just the faint gleam of the lampara.
There are no sounds when you are on the open sea, just the gentle lapping of the waves on the boat.
There are no smells when you reach the place where the fishnet is, just the fresh scent of the sea in the early morning.

And then, you finally reach your destination, where your amazing experience is waiting for you. Follow the voice of fishermen and their rules, push your hands into the water and let the sea show you the awesome vitality beneath its surface.

Only a taut wire separates you from the fish you are here searching for. Slightly pull and let it go, and then again and again.
What an amazing creature the octopus is, with the soft, moist texture of its body and, at the same time, the strength of its tentacles that wrap around your fingers. You’ll never forget the force of that unusual and cold grip.

It is in that moment that everything comes to life: the incandescent red sun rises from the sea in front of Polignano and finally your eyes will be able to see the wonder of the vivid colours of the typical vessel where you are.

A boat called Gozzo that old craftsmen build even now with knowledge, skill and patience.
They are masters of wood, real “maestri d’ascia” who know every fibre of Gozzo wood like the back of their hand. The ability to carve wood, to thread a sturdy hemp thread into each of the gozzo’s planks and then to paint the boat in bright colours is an art handed down over time, from father to son. Today this handcrafted work has almost disappeared but now it shows itself to your eyes, ready to become your new memory.
